Ten new Volvo VNR Electric semi trucks will soon be facilitating deliveries of food and beverages to selected McDonald’s outlets in greater Montreal and Toronto.

These trucks are being acquired by Martin Brower, a supply chain solutions provider for global restaurant chains and McDonald’s logistical partner.

Julie Dell’Aniello, president of Martin Brower Canada, highlighted the long-standing collaboration between McDonald’s and Martin Brower, noting their shared commitment to exploring alternative-fuel vehicles.

Martin Brower’s deployment of these ten trucks follows a pilot project in Montreal initiated in 2022 with electric tractors.

Matthew Blackman, managing director for Canada at Volvo Trucks North America, expressed enthusiasm about McDonald’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions in transportation.

He also praised the reliability and performance of the Volvo VNR Electric chosen by global leaders for scaling their trials of battery-electric vehicles.

Volvo Trucks North America recently introduced a new Truck-as-a-Service (TaaS) model, Volvo on Demand, aimed at easing the transition to battery-electric vehicles for small and medium-sized truck fleets.

This initiative frees up credit lines for business growth by minimizing upfront investments typically associated with such transitions.

Since introducing electric trucks in 2018, Volvo has expanded its commercial lineup to include dedicated refuse models under both its Volvo and Mack Truck brands, along with the new Mack MD Electric, which began production earlier this year.

Volvo’s pioneering position in the North American market has prompted several companies to adopt its Heavy Duty Electric Vehicles (HDEVs).

The forthcoming next-generation VNL Electric is expected to further solidify Volvo’s leadership in this sector.
